this restaurant has been on my list (yes i have a list) for a while now.

my date and i lucked up getting here when we did as it was busy and had just enough room for us to be seated at the bar. seeing as bottomless ends at 4pm, we got straight to business and ordered our first round of mimosas. the basil lavender mimosa was definitely different in terms of taste, but i liked it.

for my red meat eaters, steak and eggs has proven itself the go-to breakfast meal. in my experience, steak in an egg and steak dish is usually minimally seasoned, but the chimichurri set this steak apart; nothing bland over here.

chicken and waffles has become a popular brunch dish and we get the thought behind it; the sweet and savory flavors coming together are a match made in heaven. the waffles were perfectly toasted plus the maple gravy on the chicken added an extra flare that i didn’t even know was needed. from here on out i’ll be eating my chicken and waffles just like this.

by the time i got to this part of the meal i was stuffed. i ate off my date’s plate and not to mention my own (because that’s how i am). i had a sweet treat to take with me. when i finally got a chance to sit down and eat this all warmed up, i was so happy i decided to order this. it is not meant to be eaten alone so go ahead and share if you’re not feeling too greedy.

you will leave here feeling stuffed and if you’re lucky enough, with leftovers. your mimosa pitcher won’t be empty for long as the waiters are very attentive so you have to keep one thing in mind while indulging: ‘remember it’s a marathon not a sprint.’

Due South is by far one of the most authentic southern breakfast experiences i’ve ever had. when you walk in you are immediately met with aromas of spices and fried chicken. i was here along with family and friends to celebrate my sister’s birthday. if you’re an indecisive person, the endless menu options won’t be of any help. me being me, i ordered them all. the table favorite, ordered by 6 people in our party, was chicken and waffles. instead of following the rest of the pack, i ordered three other meals that caught my eye.

what’s savory without some sweetness? this apple french toast was the perfect combination of the two and complimented my other two plates. the whipped cream cheese married the flavors of the apples and the syrup i put on top of the french toast; a perfect ten.

for all my veggie lovers out there (that don’t run when mushrooms enter food discussions), this one is it. this cheese mashup paired with home fries is the perfect plate if you’re looking for a hearty and humble meal.

while everyone around me it seems like scarfed down their chicken and waffles, i took my chances with this chicken biscuit. the hot honey was everything i never knew i needed. once i drizzled this sandwich with it, i was completely sold. this breakfast spread won me over 3x over. one quick tip before you make your way here: mimosas are bottomless for two hours so come ready to eat and pace yourself with the mimosas because you’ll become the loudest in the room.

okay y’all the vibes in this place… lit is the word i’ll use for lack of better words. i even saw another young lady have to get carried out by her friends, that good of a time. the wait wasn’t bad at all, about a half hour and once seated at the window seats, i made sure to get the mimosas going.

i found myself not able to decide between the chicken and waffles or the jerk shrimp & grits so in typical me fashion, i got to taste them both. the shrimp were jerked just right.

one tip: if you plan on ordering bottomless mimosas, be prepared to have to flag down a waiter/waitress for your refill or your cup will remain empty as they are tending to a bunch of other tables at once.

shout out to the dj for keeping the vibes good all while playing hit after hit. from throwback hip hop (90’s-00’s) to new age hip hop and dancehall.
